These are casts produced in response to the sculpture workshops. Aside from the moulds made of abstract shapes representing bottles I also produced these casts of bottles I found discarded around the university. These casts represent the damage that consumerism is having on the environment and how much plastic waste we have polluting the planet not only on a global scale, but locally too. The casts have taken an integral role in producing works for my practise, the form and statement of the artworks and objects are changed and manipulated in a way in which allows the audience to perceive them how they wish without knowing or maybe understanding completely the idea behind.
I used different locations and left the objects there, observing how/if people interacted with them. My findings were what I expected. People chose to ignore the casts, like they would if it was the original object. This shows a huge amount surrounding the ignorance of a majority when confronted with current environmental issues.
